About Huntro: People
Bryce was born and now lives in Toronto.
After obtaining his B.A. from University of Western Ontario, Bryce joined Ernst & Young where he achieved his C.A. designation and practiced for 2 years.
In 1971 he joined the family owned insurance brokerage Hunter, Rowell which he led for over 20 years.
Looking to the future, Bryce wanted the firm to be able to compete globally at the highest levels. To this end he arranged a merger creating Hunter, Keilty, Muntz & Beatty.
As CEO of the new firm in 1998, Bryce contributed significantly to the establishment of the largest Canadian owned corporate property/casualty insurance brokerage and risk management entity with 2003 revenues of $30m and total firm value in excess of $40m.
In April 2004 a shareholder realignment resulted in the Hunter interests withdrawing from HKMB and liquidation of their position.
Since then Bryce has broadened Huntro's investment portfolio with direct involvements in certain instances. In April 2006 he became Chairman of Hunters International Insurance.
Bryce was instrumental in the establishment of the industry self regulatory system known as RIBO, served as President of Toronto Insurance Conference and as a Director of Intersure.
He is married to Connie, originally from St. Thomas, Ontario. She is past chair of Canada Blooms.
Daughter Brooke Hunter and son Scott Hunter are involved at Huntro.
Son Todd Hunter and daughter Carrie Hunter are in the very early career stages.
His interests include the natural environment - particularly birding, hiking, and snowshoeing, family activity, golf, politics, and he has involvements with several community organizations and clubs.
